Short Bio
Known as the youngest deputy at the International Parliament for Peace and Tolerance, Mahrous is great example of women's political empowerment. Mahrous graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University. but her passion for media and her political vision propelled her to obtain a media diploma from Cairo University, and a human resources diploma from Ain Shams University.
She worked as writer and copy editor for TV shows, and became a media trainer before she worked as Editor-in-chief for several TV channels. Martha also joined the media center of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
From there, she headed to the world of politics. She joined the Nasser Higher Military Academy where she obtained courses in strategy and national security, crises and negotiation, decision-makers and methods of thinking and future studies and Military media editor. She also obtained a diploma in strategic planning and sustainable development from the Institute of National Planning
She found what complemented her political vision in the Homat Al-Watan Party. She became the party's Secretary of Citizenship, the first and the youngest woman to join its general secretariat. She then joined the Coordination of Youth Parties and Politicians, which opened the doors for her nomination in the elections of the Egyptian House of Representatives.
She has been a member of the Egyptian House of Representatives since 2020. She was also elected Under-Secretary of the Communications and IT Committee in 2021. In addition, she was selected to represent Egypt at the International Parliament for Peace and Tolerance. She assumed the position of chairman of the peace-building committee in GCTP.
She played an active role in enacting many laws for the Egyptian women and people. She suggested laws to help prevent family disintegration, and to harshen penalties for electronic extortion.
Believing in the importance of leading positive active roles in the society, she launched several initiatives, including: ”Know Your Country's History" to support tourism; “Your Health is Important” where she was the first MP to provide COVID-19 vaccine in her office. She also launched an initiative to treat addiction, and “Our children are Our Future “ initiative to educate children with special needs. her latest was to eradicate illiteracy.
